Musicians unite in Tribute and Fund For Danny Lackey

Tribute and Fund For Danny Lackey

One of the best parts of peering into the indie entertainment industry is witnessing the collaboration that takes place between artists. Sometimes, though, that camaraderie occurs in the shadows of tough times.

I was recently contacted by Chris Rigg of ManScared, a PR company that represents members of the indie music community. Chris let me know about a man named Danny Lackey, co-founder of the When the Sun Hits blog. It’s a site much like ours in its dedication to providing media exposure for musicians of all kinds. Danny, also a musician with the band Deepfieldview, passed away on January 28th after a battle with cancer.

Danny was well-respected in the community and it’s evident by the support of the friends and colleagues he left behind. A number of them have banded together to help raise funds for Danny’s other half, Barbie. They’re doing so by providing a number of their tracks for streaming and purchase through Bandcamp. At the time Chris contacted us, that number of tracks stood at 98, but that figure has continued to climb.

There’s something in the track list for music lovers of all genres. We’ve included a couple of songs below, but you can find the full list at the Fund For Danny Lackey Bandcamp page.
